Our Program
At CuraSouth, located in the vibrant community of Tampa, Florida, we pride ourselves on a distinctive approach to treating addiction that sets us apart from other facilities. Our comprehensive program is designed to address the multifaceted nature of substance use disorders, providing a path to recovery that is as individualized as the clients we serve.
Our methodology integrates evidence-based therapies with cutting-edge medical care, ensuring that every aspect of an individual’s recovery journey is addressed. From the initial detox process, supervised by our 24-hour medical staff, to the development of personalized aftercare plans, our focus remains on treating the whole person rather than just the addiction.
CuraSouth boasts newly remodeled facilities that provide all the comforts of home in a serene and healing environment. With comfortable beds, relaxing lounges, and catered meals, we’ve created a space where clients can focus entirely on their recovery without the stressors of everyday life.
Recognizing that no two paths to recovery are the same, we offer highly individualized treatment plans. Our team of licensed therapists, medical professionals, and experienced support staff work closely with each client to tailor a program that meets their specific needs and goals.
Our treatment programs include a blend of individual, family, and group therapies, alongside holistic options such as nutrition programs and physical wellness activities. This multi-modal approach ensures that clients receive comprehensive care that addresses mental, physical, and emotional health.
Our Medical Detox
Our medical detox center employs a range of evidence-based techniques, including:
Tapering – At CuraSouth we often employ tapering in the case of moderate or severe benzodiazepine withdrawal, and opioid withdrawal in some cases. Tapering refers to slowly weaning a client off a chemical substance (most commonly a prescription medication) over an extended period of time under the close supervision of an experienced medical professional. Tapering is essential when quitting cold turkey could result in life-threatening withdrawal symptoms. Physicians closely monitor clients in order to ensure a healthy heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature.
Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) – Pharmacological intervention — more commonly referred to as Medication Assisted Treatment [MAT] – is an important part of many medical detox programs. At CuraSouth we utilize a number of effective medications including: naltrexone, buprenorphine and tramadol (for the treatment of opioid withdrawal); antipsychotics, anti-anxiety medications and antidepressants; non-narcotic sleep aids and a range of non-addictiv, over-the-counter pain relievers.
Holistic treatment methods – Holistic treatment methods can be extremely beneficial when it comes to alleviating psychological drug cravings and helping clients work through emotional and psychological discomfort. Some of the holistic methodologies we employ at CuraSouth include acupuncture, massage therapy, physical therapy, mindfulness meditation and yoga therapy. Clients are able to participate in holistically-based workshops and group sessions whenever they are feeling physically up to doing so.
Additional Addiction Treatment Services
Addiction Treatment services we offer include:
An in-depth clinical and medical assessment – Each client undergoes an assessment upon his or her arrival, which helps our clinical and medical team determine which course of action is going to be most beneficial for each individual.
Case management services – Clients are paired with a case manager who walks them through the early recovery process and helps them develop personal treatment goals. Case managers also serve as the main point of contact between the clinical team and the loved ones of each client, plus any legal authorities that may be connected to the individual’s case.
Individual therapy & group therapy – Individual therapy sessions take place on a weekly basis, and group therapy sessions are offered at least once a day.
Family therapy – At CuraSouth we believe that the loved ones of our clients should be heavily involved in every stage of the recovery process, from detox through aftercare.
Aftercare planning – Medical detox is only the first step. We offer rehab placement services to ensure that our clients stay on the right path.

In many cases, traveling out of your home town is the best option for treatment. The temptation to leave early and return to substance use is much lower when you are away from the people and places that are associated with your substance abuse. CuraSouth offers a complimentary car service for individuals in the surrounding areas who are interested in coming to the program. If you are traveling out of state for treatment, we are able to help coordinate a flight and reliable transportation to/from the airport.*
*Please note — the cost of transportation services such as airfare are the financial responsibility of the client.
Once admitted to our program, clients are encouraged to complete a Release of Information (ROI) form for friends, family, employers, etc. Due to HIPPA laws we are not allowed to confirm or deny any patient’s attendance at our facility without a signed release of information. These laws are in place to protect the privacy of those who are seeking help. If your loved one did not complete an ROI, what we can do is take down your name and information as well as any message you have. If the person you are needing to contact is at our facility we will make sure they receive the message as soon as possible and ask to set-up a ROI for you.
We offer programs lengths individualized for each client. Generally detox is anywhere from 3-7 days. These are estimates and are adjusted to meet the needs of the individual client.
During detox access to laptops and cell phones are restricted, after detox they are allowed. However, special arrangements can be made for individuals who need to conduct business or important personal matters during detox. For clients who are self employed, we do offer an executive program that allows for cellphone and laptop access in certain cases during business hours.
We accept adults ages 18 or over.
While we strongly discourage leaving before treatment completion, we are not a lockdown facility. Clients are in our program voluntary and may leave when they want.

FMLA ensures that you will not be terminated while taking a leave of absences from work to attend treatment. Our admissions and case management staff can help with setting up any FMLA paperwork.
